Cool Sirius Satellite Radio Commercial

This weekend while browsing through Sirius.com, I came across a very cool Sirius commercial. I found it on YouTube so that I could post it here!

I love the domino effect - it always amazes me how much work is put into these types of things - and then it's all just to knock it down!!

XM Satellite Radio Partners With ABC

In a slew of recent partnerships, XM Satellite Radio has now teamed up with ABC to present a regular music segment on air that showcases XM's "Artist Confidential" series. It will be shown on the weekend edition of ABC's "Good Morning America". The segment will feature video highlights from the XM original “Artist Confidential" show. The Good Morning America Weekend shows will be the first time fans will be able to see and hear to their favorite artists from the popular XM series.

This past Sunday, November 18th, was the beginning of this being slated as a regular part of the show. Mandy Moore was the first artist featured, with announcements of new artists coming soon. ABC says video from XM's original series will also be available to watch on ABC's website.

Have any of you heard this series while listening to XM? If so, post a comment to let us know if you think it will be worth watching on ABC!

iTunes Radio Coming Soon?

So there are rumors going around about iTunes radio, which clearly does not exist yet. However, on AT&T's new website where they added a new international data plan for the iPhone, they use iTunes Radio as an example of how the plan is used. Strange, isn't it?

This is the quote from AT&T's website: "While using data on iPhone is free within the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, International data roaming can get expensive quickly. Consider that just 20 minutes of iTunes radio takes 20MB of data. That's why AT&T has created two iPhone International packages with more reasonable rates in 29 countries."

In the next upgrade to iTunes, which would be iTunes 7.5, I wonder if the iPhone or the iPod will double as satellite radio players. And I do know that there is a radio option in the desktop iTunes, but it's not called iTunes Radio - so I don't think that is what AT&T is talking about. I find this very interesting.

Has anyone else heard anything about this from Apple? If so, feel free to post a comment to let us know! Anything new in the satellite radio community to keep us on our toes - let's talk about it!

Satellite Radio Merger

I read an article this evening that seemed to indicate that the much anticipated satellite radio merger between Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI) and XM Satellite Radio (XMSR) is about to be approved by Thomas Barnett, Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

This is pretty exciting if the merger results in more channels or stations for subscribers! It would also be a great deal for both companies, to combine their customer base and actually become more profitable. It would put an end to the competition and probably lower prices for the monthly subscription, as well. If so, it wouldn't be so difficult to persuade new customers to sign up for service.

Sirius and XM pointed out that as a result of the merger, the company hoped to offer subscribers an "a la carte" option, which would allow them to pick and choose the channels they wanted, such as Sirius' "Martha Stewart Living Radio" or XM's "Theme Time Radio Hour" with music legend Bob Dylan.

We'll see if it actually goes through, but I'm hoping it will. I love the satellite radio that I have in my car, I hear lots of new music, plus the older music that I love. There is never a shortage of entertainment via satellite radio. What do you think of the merger? Are you for it or against it? Post a comment to let us know what you think!
